New Law: In Indonesia Transgender Community Grows Concerned

An Indonesian transgender lady Chika Ananda Petrie lived in a rented apartment in a Jakarta slum. She always faces fears for her safety because of her gender.

She faced her darkest fears come true in some previous months when the world's biggest Muslim-populated country and its third-largest democracy criminalized having sex outside of marriage and living together. A 28-year-old busker Chika who journeys daily to her favored place in a neighboring town is afraid of being imprisoned.

Because the nation and the government do not promote homosexual marriage.

The amendments take in ground 3 years, and unmarried couples and LGBT couples will face the fear of being criticized by the police. There are more chances of human right violation.

New York-based Human Rights Watch recently said this would impact LGBT individuals differently and mostly negatively. The transgender woman who entered public office in Indonesia said the law could breed latent homophobia or transphobia and put unmarried couples at risk.

Homosexuality is not illegal in Indonesia, except in the conservative area of Aceh. Gender diversity and cultures are widely accepted in society. The community on the island of Sulawesi Bugis recognizes five genders, one that combines female and male.

Raising an Islamic voice had increased the fear of violating LGBT rights. Arus Pelangi said that in the previous year, it may be increased by 90%. She is an advocate for the right of LGBT.

Chika is not just a name it is like many other common names. It is made up of the combination of the words feminine and masculine. It shows both genders in one body. She was scared and her voice was not safe because of the fear of society.

This is not just a story of the tale of Chika, many people will face it or face it at individual times. The question is why this uniqueness of gender is not acceptable in societies. Why they are facing the fear of the terror of conservative Islam?

When the time will come when any human rights or world leaders forces will come to protect their rights!
