Police officer killed after Damascus car bomb attack
A second Syrian police officer was killed as a result of a
vehicle bombing at a police station in Damascus one day after the explosion
that was claimed by Daesh extremists, the interior ministry said on Thursday.
Notably, a car explosion at the Barzeh police station in
the north of the city, according to the ministry, on Wednesday, killing a
lieutenant colonel and injuring four others. The ministry also stated that an
investigation was continuing.
Moreover, it was reported on Thursday that a second police
officer had passed away and that his body had been sent to the police hospital
in Damascus. Security events, including explosions that target military or
civilian vehicles, sometimes happen in Damascus.
Since the government retook the final rebel stronghold
near Damascus in 2018, the capital has been mostly spared from extremist
bloodshed. The interior ministry said that two persons were just mildly hurt in
an unclaimed vehicle bombing that occurred in the Mazzeh neighborhood of
Damascus in April, according to state media.
Furthermore, Large portions of the north of the nation
remain ungoverned even if the front lines have mainly quieted in recent years.
