Israeli-Palestine Conflict: Three Palestinians killed in Israeli army raid in Nablus

The Israeli army fired live ammunition during a raid on Thursday in the northern city of Nablus, killing at least three Palestinians and injuring four others.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health has confirmed the death of three individuals, adding the faces of two killed in the raid were deformed completely due to the heavy fire they encountered, consequently making it incredibly difficult to identify them.

Two of the Palestinians killed Thursday were responsible for an April 7 shooting north of Jericho, in which two settler sisters died and their mother succumbed to her injuries later, a statement from the Israeli army and intelligence service read.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said four people were rushed to hospital following the raid in the Old City of Nablus, while a minimum of 150 people suffered tear gas inhalation, including school children. In response to the attack, political factions have announced a general strike in the city.

So far in 2023, Israeli forces and settlers have killed more than 108 Palestinians, including 20 children. The number also includes Palestinian prisoner Sheikh Khader Adnan, 44, who died just a couple of days back while being on a hunger strike against his repeated arbitrary detention.

Adnan was arrested on March 5 and was waiting for a military trial. His death drew intense fury and triggered strong protests in the occupied West Bank. Armed resistance groups in the Gaza Strip also launched rocket attacks on Israel.

Israeli aerial attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip killed a 58-year-old Palestinian man, Hashel Mubarak, on Tuesday night while injuring five others.
