Kazakhstan and Egypt contemplates a 14-day visa waiver
Askhat Oralov, the Minister of Culture and Sports of the
Republic of Kazakhstan, met with Manal al-Shinnawi, the Egyptian Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Kazakhstan, to discuss their bilateral
cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism, according to Kazinform.
In all of Kazakhstan, this year is the 800th anniversary
of Sultan Beibarys, Minister Oralov stated at the meeting, adding that a
delegation from Kazakhstan will soon travel to Egypt to attend the dedication
of the Sultan Beibarys Science-to-Practice Conference and the inauguration of
the Mosque of al-Zahir Baybars.
Cairo will also play home to a gala performance with
Kazakh singers and an exhibition of craftsmen from Kazakhstan commemorating the
Days of Kazakhstan's culture in Egypt. He said that this is a wonderful chance
for Kazakhs to show off their skills.
The 4th session of the Intergovernmental Commission,
scheduled to take place this November, was then discussed by the parties.
The plans of the Egyptian side to bring an exhibition of
Islamic culture to the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan were
disclosed by Ambassador Al-Shinnawi. Minister Oralov committed to support this
proposal on his own behalf.
Since Egypt is the third most popular destination for
Kazakhstani tourists, tourism cooperation received the utmost attention.
According to the Egyptian ambassador, Kazakhstan has a lot to offer visitors
from Egypt, including business opportunities in the travel and tourist
industry. He also indicated interest in establishing a reciprocal 14-day
visa-free period between the two nations.
