A Bosnian Muslim travels to Iraq for a pilgrimage

52-year-old Bosnian Muslim judo competitor Envar Beganovic left for the yearly harrowing. The man continued walking till he arrived at Kirkuk, Iraq.

Since the day he took office, Beganovic has reportedly left behind Slovakia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Greece, Austria, and Turkey. Beganovic, who has been on the march for 160 days, plans to travel through 10 nations to get where he's going.

"Throughout the tens of thousands of kilometers, I had no issues. On the contrary, they helped and supported me more than I could have imagined, he told Anadolu.

Beganovic claimed that since he is already an athlete and used to walking, he intended to walk hundreds of kilometers in order to reap enormous gains.

He added that he had been trekking for months to get to the holy land and had never experienced fatigue. "My late mother and father bequeathed to us not to stray from your religion," he stated.

One of the five pillars of Islam is the pilgrimage to the Kaaba in Mecca, the holiest place. If they have the means, Muslims must execute it at least once.
