'Zaandam' cruise liner headed towards Florida with 42 aboard who have flu-like symptoms

Holland America cruise line ship called the 'Zaandam' around 42 passengers on board with influenza-like symptoms is heading towards Florida, yet it's vague if it will be allowed to dock.

'Zaandam' is scheduled to arrive in Fort Lauderdale on Monday, as indicated by a Facebook update from the ship.

The Zaandam left Argentina on March 7, and around 13 guests and 29 crew staff recorded flu-like symptoms. The ship doesn't have any COVID-19 tests facility. Another Holland America ship named, 'Rotterdam' plans to meet the Zaandam off the bank of Panama on Thursday to convey supplies, workers, and coronavirus test units.

On Tuesday, a few people from the Broward County Commission in Florida stated the ship's docking ought to be stopped from maintaining a strategic distance from a potential spreading of the infection. The commission chose to concede action and look for direction from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, NPR detailed.

All the passengers have been requested to remain inside rooms and follow the quarantine rules, and they are receiving meals in their respective rooms.

The luxury cruise liner 'Diamond Princess', which was isolated off the bank of Japan, recorded nine people dead this month, and around 712 who were infected with the coronavirus, The Hill reported.
