US may impose sanctions against Russia due to destabilization of oil market situation
US authorities are considering introducing
new sanctions against Russia in order to stabilize the situation in the oil
market.
The US Presidential Administration, Donald
Trump, intends to intervene in the oil dispute in Russia and Saudi Arabia and
wants to urge the authorities to reduce the production of raw materials to the
previous volumes. The United States
plans to use diplomatic measures in relation to Riyadh through the Department
of State or the National Security Council.
The publication notes that it is still unclear what kind of restrictions are being
discussed against Russia and what actions of Moscow could provoke their
introduction. Sources say the U.S. oil
companies asked for White House intervention. Trump administration is also
considering strengthening cooperation with Saudi Arabia to prevent it from
returning to the alliance with Russia.
Recall that on
March 6, OPEC + countries were unable to agree on an additional reduction in
oil production due to a drop in demand due to the coronavirus pandemic, which
led to lower energy prices. Saudi Arabia
has announced that it intends to maintain oil supplies at the highest level.
