The United States deployed heavy bombers B-2 Spirit to Europe
The European command of the US Armed Forces
on Monday announced the transfer of heavy B-2 Spirit bombers to the Lajes air
base, located on the Portuguese Azores in the Atlantic Ocean.
"Aircraft will carry out operations at various military facilities in the area of responsibility of the European command of the US Armed Forces. The deployment of strategic bombers in Europe provides the crew members with a theater of military operations and demonstrates US commitment to allies and partners," the command’s press release said.

The deployed bombers belong to the 509th and 131st bombing wings of the US Air Force, deployed at the Whiteman Air Base in Missouri.
The US military the command does not specify how many aircraft are in question.
