Turkish Foreign Ministry compares Greek authorities with SS men in Auschwitz
Turkish authorities are engaged in
outrageous profanity of the Holocaust tragedy, according to the Jewish the community of Greece. On the eve of the
Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister, YavuzSelim Kiran, compared the refugees who
want to enter Greece through Turkey with the prisoners of Auschwitz, and the
Greeks with the SS men in this death camp.
“These photos are not from Auschwitz, but from
Parachute. The Greeks take away clothes, money, identification cards, mobile
phones from unhappy migrants, and then send them back. Europe and the entire civilized world have
taken an ostrich’s position, ”the Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister wrote.
“We
demand that the Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister delete his entry and formally
apologize for his comparison, which offends the victims of the Holocaust. The Nazis destroyed six million European
Jews, including Greek. The Turkish
government’s policy of exploiting the suffering of innocent people gives the
impression of a profanation of the Holocaust for political purposes. This is nothing more than a vile operation to
misinform and disorientate public opinion, ”said the Central Council of Jewish
Communities of Greece.
David Harris, director-general of the American
Jewish Committee believes that Kiran’s comparison of Nazi Germany is “beyond
meanness.”
“During World War II, Turkey was neutral, and
Greece fought against the Nazis and paid a high price for it. Does a Turkish official really know nothing
about Auschwitz, gas chambers and crematoria?
It's time for Turkey to stop using refugees as pawns in a vile game
against Greece and the European Union, ”Harris wrote on Twitter.
YavushSelim Kiran did not delete his
tweet. The Deputy Foreign Minister of
Turkey is actively commenting on the tweet on users who do not share Ankara’s
view of the refugee situation. In the
comments, readers pointed out: a photo of migrants whom the Greeks allegedly
stripped naked and robbed - in fact, a screenshot from the video where migrants
are dried by the fire after swimming in the river. Another user suggested that the photos posted
by Kieran were taken in Photoshop.
After the death in the southern Syrian
province of Idlib on February 27 as a result of a Syrian Air Force strike, 36
Turkish troops in Ankara decided not to stop the refugees who seek to enter
Europe by sea or land, taking advantage of the territories of Greece and
Bulgaria. Turkish police, coast guards
and border checkpoints were instructed not to impede the passage of migrants in
the event of a flow of refugees from Syria.
According to officials in Athens, the Turkish border guards at the
checkpoints “just disappeared,” and the Turkish authorities not only do not
interfere, but also actively help migrants in trying to cross the border with
Greece. On March 5, it became known that
about 1,000 Turkish police special forces were transferred to the border with
Greece in order to prevent "the outflow of migrants from Greek
territory."
On
March 8, migrant women staged a rally in Parazkul demanding that Turkey be
included in the European Union so that refugees could move freely around the
EU. According to Turkish newspapers, on
March 11, Turkish President Recep Erdogan said: Greece acts with refugees as
the Nazis did with the Jews.
“Migrants in
Turkey staged a Holocaust, and they are forced to flee to Greece? If so, Erdogan should be punished as a war
criminal. If not, then the Turkish
president should be invited to Auschwitz to learn about the real Nazis and the
real Holocaust, ”David Harris wrote on Twitter.
