Senegalese president visits Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah on official visit to Saudi Arabia

 


The President of Senegal, Macky Sall, visited the Prophet’s Mosque in the city of Madinah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Friday. He performed prayers in a safe and spiritual atmosphere.

He was greeted by the local authorities. He was received by several officials from the Prophet’s Mosque. He was also received by the Assistant General for the Affairs of the Prophet’s Mosque, Dr Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Khudairi.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Senegalese President arrived at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah. He was received by the Undersecretary of the Madinah Region, Wahib bin Mohammed Al-Sahli, the Director of the Royal Protocols Office in Madinah, Ibrahim Berri, and several other officials.

In April this year, he arrived in Jeddah, a Saudi Arabian port city on the Red Sea. Upon arrival at Abdulaziz International Airport, he was received by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Governor of the Makkah region, and various other senior officials.

In May this year, Saudi Arabia and Senegal stressed their determination to increase cooperation in all political issues in order to establish peace, security and stability in the region. Both countries also issued a statement capping the Senegalese President’s visit to Saudi Arabia in April.

Senegal also expressed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia. The Senegalese President also held official talks during his visit with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.

The two leaders also urged the international community to make the necessary efforts to make the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen join UN-sponsored political consultations in order to establish peace in the region. They also stressed the need to solve the Palestinian-Israel conflict.

Last month, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, performed the Umrah pilgrimage in Mecca.
