Ramadan meet and greet initiative launched for Umrah visitors
The Grand Mosque, also known as Masjid al-Haram, in the holy
city of Mecca in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has launched a
meet-and-greet initiative for pilgrims and Umrah visitors.
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy
Mosques launched this initiative for pilgrims. The scheme was represented by
the media affairs, public relations, and women’s exhibitions agency of the
General Presidency.
Nada Al-Malki, the official of the General Presidency for
the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, said that meet and greet points would be
set up at Haramain train station and King Abdulaziz International Airport in
Jeddah, a Saudi Arabian port city on the Red Sea. The pilgrims would be
welcomed at these two spots. The Saudi officials would give them a set of gifts
to help them perform their Umrah rituals with ease in the country.
On Sunday, the General Presidency launched its Ramadan
program in the Grand Mosque library. The visitors can attend scientific and
cultural meetings and seminars in the library. The first session took place on
Sunday to highlight the life of the Prophet Muhammad.
Recently, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah urged
pilgrims to limit Umrah to one visit during the holy month of Ramadan. The
ministry asked Umrah visitors to only perform Umrah once during the holy month
of Ramadan in order to reduce crowding.
Muslims can apply to perform the Umrah during the holy month
of Ramadan through the Nusuk app and organize their entire trip to the Kingdom.
Pilgrims can obtain the Umrah permit by logging into the Nusuk app. The Saudi
Ministry of Hajj and Umrah supervises the app for the safety of the pilgrims.
The app is available on the Apple Store and Google Play Store on iOS and
Android devices. Pilgrims in Saudi Arabia can also obtain permits through the
Tawakkalna app.
