Trump Flaunts All Environmental Protection Controls To Suit His Personal Agenda

Trump is out to work completely against the preservation of the environment so that he can win a huge vote bank in his favor. He has now gone ahead and brought forth environmental rollbacks, removing federal protections for millions of miles of the country's streams, arroyos, and wetlands.

This is a moment of celebration for farmers, but it is bad news for environmental protection agencies and everyone else, worldwide, which is working towards the preservation of water bodies. Maybe this is one reason that Trump did not bat an eyelid when he missed listening to the moving speech made by the German young environment activist Greta Thenburg at the World Economic Forum recently. He called all environmental activists as ‘perennial prophets of doom’.

With the leeway that Trump is giving off messing up the decade-old Clean Water Act, it seems that America will see the end of any kind of federal control or oversight for up to half of the nation’s wetlands and one-fifth of the country’s streams. A draft version of the rule was released this week.

According to the new draft released by the Trump administration, there will be free access to the industry and developers to dump more contaminants in waterways or simply fill them in. Eventually, this will lead to damage of habitat for wildlife, making it more difficult and expensive for downstream communities to treat drinking water to make it safe.

Since taking office, he has rolled back almost 95 environmental rules, making it his priority to get rid of all federal control.  In all ways possible, Trump has ensured he can favor the fossil fuel companies over environmental preservation. Currently, the existing environmental regulations are meant to curb greenhouse gas emissions, protect land and animals from oil and gas drilling and development, as well as limit pollution and toxic waste runoff into the country’s water.

Trump administration has also lifted control over the protection of endangered species and forest as well, favoring construction companies. The new rules also remove tools used by scientists to predict future harm to species from climate change
