Mexico sends charge d'affaires to Bolivia after expulsion of ambassador
The Mexican Chargé d'affaires ai Bolivia arrived in La Paz.
On December 27, the Bolivian police did not let the Mexican ambassador to La Paz accompany the Spanish charge d'affaires to the South American country. According to the agency, people who tried to enter the building along with the diplomat hid their faces from law enforcement agencies. Police in La Paz put up a cordon around the embassy of the republic, in the territory of which several Bolivian ex-ministers were granted asylum. The interim authorities issued an arrest warrant for them on charges of incitement to rebellion and terrorism.
On Monday, the acting Bolivian President Jeanine Agnes announced that the Mexican ambassador to La Paz, charge d'affaires of Spain in the South American Republic and several other diplomats were declared non grata persons and must leave the country because of the "serious damage to the sovereignty and dignity of the people and government of Bolivia."
