French concern about Tehran's violation of the nuclear deal

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian expressed concern about Iran's violation of the Vienna Agreement.

On the sidelines of the Munich summit, Le Drian said that he informed his counterpart, Jawad Zarif, of France's determination to reduce escalation in the Gulf.

The French Foreign Minister also called on Turkey to respect the decisions of the Berlin Conference on Libya, which approved the cessation of hostilities, the absence of military intervention, and the sparking of the Libyan crisis.

France condemned, last Monday, Iran's attempt to put a satellite into orbit, which is reminiscent of "ballistic" technologies similar to those used to carry nuclear weapons, calling on Tehran to respect its international "obligations."

"In accordance with its obligations contained in Resolution 2231 of the United Nations Security Council, Iran cannot carry out these activities, including launches linked to ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear weapons," said French Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Agnes von der Mol.

"On the other hand, Iran has exposed a new ballistic missile with the range that can exceed 500 km," the spokeswoman added.

Resolution 2231 of the UN Security Council calls on Iran to "refrain from any activity related to ballistic missiles that are manufactured to carry nuclear charges, including launches that use ballistic missile technology."
