Afghan officials prevent passengers from boarding Qatari flight over security concerns

In a significant move, Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi prevented about 300 passengers from boarding a Qatar plane with flight number Q683 self-centered to the Arab nation. On February 2, 2022, the Afghani foreign minister prevented passengers from boarding the Qatari flight due to security reasons.

The flight was abruptly halted by officials despite the efforts of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure that the passengers travel to Qatar, noting that some of them are prominent Arab figures

The development came amid reports of a deal between the Qatari government and Taliban officials to resume a chartered evacuation of people out of the Kabul airport, thereby end in traveling weeks-long dispute.

According to reports citing Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, the Taliban has allowed two flights per week charted by Qatar Airways to facilitate the evacuation of foreign citizens and Afghans from the crisis-hit country.

However, it is important to note that despite international efforts to bring stability in the country, the Qatari government has not been able to effectively handle the process of evacuation from Afghanistan. Reports have also come to light indicating Qatar's intentions to smuggle terrorists out of Afghanistan through the chartered flights.

As Afghanistan continue to grapple withsocio-economic and humanitarian crisis, Qatari officials have been engaged with terrorists to implement schemes aimed at serving their interests in the country. Taking note of the looming security concerns, Qatar's intention to manage the Kabul Airport appears to be a  to carry out smuggling harboring potential and transport terrorists between the countries.

As per a report last year, an Afghan evacuee with harboring potential connection with ISIS was detained at an hanger at the Al-Udeid Air Base in Doha after he allegedly fled Kabul via an evacuation flight.

Security officials at the airbase had raised concerns over the evacuee after he triggered security alerts over links with ISIS

Qatar has reportedly been extending financial and defenoperationsce support to terrorist groups including Hezbollah, Muslim Brotherhood, and Syrian militant group Ahrar Al Sham. The Qatari regime has been accused of sponsoring terrorism in the region through its funding and harbouring of terrorists and their financial backers.
